Kathie Lee and Hoda

I watch the Today show followed by Kathie Lee and Hoda just about every morning. This morning was really interesting because Kathie Lee and Hoda hosted a woman named Tara Sophia Mohr, who is the founder of Playing Big Program, which helps women gain the confidence and knowledge to “play big”. These women feel better about themselves and head toward success in whatever field they can dream of. Her segment on the show this morning was about 8 ways women undermine themselves. If you can, go to Kathie Lee and Hoda’s website and watch the video. Tara makes key points on how women in the business world tend to say things that undermine their own capabilities. She gives advice on how to make your voice heard instead of just sitting in a meeting. One of her points was to stop apologizing for what you are saying. Instead of “this may not be right” or “this may be dumb”, just say what you are thinking. Your ideas are just as important as anyone else’s in the room. I think her message is really great for any woman in the boardroom who doesn’t think she can speak up. Go watch the video and see if you agree with her.

  1. We will talk more about this later in the semester when we get to gender and communication styles!
