Girls, Inc.

Hey everyone! I was just thinking a lot about the end of the documentary when the credits were playing. Next to the credits were those clips discussing what we can do to help women in today’s society. One thing they mentioned was being a role model to young girls and empowering them. I noticed at the end of the credits, Girls, Inc. was a sponsor for this documentary. The organization of Girls, Inc. was also mentioned in the reading for last class. It is an organization that inspires girls to be strong, smart, and bold. This is my sorority’s, Gamma Phi Beta’s, local philanthropy. I volunteer with this organization every semester here in Newport News. I knew what Girls, Inc. mission was, but after watching this documentary, it really hit me. This organization empowers girls to become who they want to be and not what society wants them to be. It does help build girls self-esteem and give them a positive view of themselves. Getting involved is important and can make a different in society today. If you are interested in getting involved in this organization, I am posting the web address.
