Hypocrisy? Good business?

For the assignment for Thursday, see my previous post.

BUT, this is a controversial move my Marissa Mayer, CEO of Yahoo, who we watched and talked about last week with regard to work/life balance. Remember, she took a limited amount of time off for maternity leave and was publicly touting the benefits of organizations with flexible policies and understanding leaders when it comes to balance. For business-related reasons, she recently banned telecommuting (working from home) for all Yahoo employees. Here is a short video to get started, and there’s a link to a news article with some reactions too. You can Google for more. Also, interestingly, the news article notes that Mayer “used her own funds to install a nursery next to her office…other employees don’t have that option.” I welcome your comments and reactions if you wish, especially given what we talked about today in class about on-ramps, off-ramps, and the role organizations play in the process.
