Over the last couple of years I have become increasingly interested in exploring the concept of femininity. Whenever I talk to someone about femininity, hair, makeup, and clothing are always the center of the discussion. Honestly, I just really do not understand why our society’s definition of femininity always focuses on physical appearances. I do not believe that an individual’s femininity is based on of physical appearance.I do not know exactly what I believe femininity is or how it should be described but I am excited to explore this concept further over the next several weeks.

Femininity: More Than Physical Appearance

Similar to you wondering about what femininity looks like, I’ve been wondering what makes a woman a woman. I think I’ve been thinking about it due to the increase in attention towards the transgender community. When some transitions to become a woman, what are they transitioning to? A lot of the time that means they change their hair and clothes to match more of what society says a woman looks like. But whats interesting, is I don’t think hair and clothes make a woman a woman. I am sure that trans-women don’t think hair and clothes make a woman a woman, but I’d be curious to know what they do think makes a woman.
